hi jeff i love johnny castaway he is so funny i love the way he breaks the coconut and eats it and his funny ways of surviving on a desert island, i remember him on windows version 3.1 and ihave found him ever so funny ever since, my boyfriend finds him annoying because when he tries to play his computer games johnny keeps pausing his game so he has to start all overagain and he threatened to delete johnny if i didn’t set the timing for him to come on in 60 minutes so that it would not interfer with his gaming time. i was wondering would you be able to make a high definition version of johnny castaway? it’s just that with modern technology changing and and the fact that johnny was created for windows version 3.1 and only this evening my boyfriend and i discovered that johnny would not work without a mouse andthat when a mouse was installed he worked brilliantly much to my boyfriend’s annoyance.i understand you are busy playing your guitar in your pop group and i realise there are so many people outhere who support your work and the last thing on your mind is creating an updated version of johnny castaway considering you have moved on to other projects but because johnny is so popular and well loved by millions of people the world over i would like to make this request if you have any plans in the near future to re-create johnny castaway for 2009?

It’s cool to hear that you are a musician as well. I am a drummer from San Diego, Ca. Well the reason I am contacting you is about “The Incredible Machine.” I grew up playing that game and loved every minute of it. Well back to the reason for the message. We tried to use Yahoo! shopping cart. It is billed as an easy-to-use solution–which it seems to be. However, cart elements (such as price) were not appearing on web pages. So we tried to call customer service for our paid account, and we found over 12 different calls that these “agents” are kids with NO KNOWLEDGE whatsoever of even basic HTML. They actually told me that notepad-authored HTML files are not compatible with their servers! There is no escalation possibility, and if you ask for another (perhaps more knowledgeable) agent, they will tell you that the other agent will tell the same thing they are telling you–and they refuse to connect you to anyone else. If you ask for a supervisor, they tell you “sure–but that will take 3-5 business days for a callback and the person who will call you back won’t be technical.”

I never will use any paid Yahoo services again. The company is arrogant, condescending, and staffed with kids who think they’re the be-all-end-all of IT.

I just started switching everything out of yahoo today. The new yahoo homepage is terrible, and not just because I’m not used to it. Their lack of customer service is appalling and the two latest versions of yahoomail have been veeeerrrry slow, full of ads and pop-ups, as well as unresponsive. It’s time to move on. Good bye yahoo. I’ve started to replace all of mine with CFL’s and am considering beginning to replace a few with LED packs. It’s a pretty big deal.

Hell, I’m looking at Tim’s recent move to Yurt living. Damn, that sounds like an appealing alternative to the dirty rat race.

I can’t stomach Yahoo. In my opinion they harm the internet. I hope Microsoft buys Yahoo and they both go to hell in a hand basket.

I gave up Windows for Linux.

I gave up Yahoo for Google.

My computing life is so vastly improved.

As you say, you don’t use yahoo.com much these days. They have been doing this for a number of years, and once they started spamming three or four years ago, I unchecked all the boxes and they have left me alone since. However, they suck more than words can say, given their persistent “This works great! Let’s improve it until it doesn’t…” attitude. In a few days, they will remove the old “works great” my.yahoo.com page and force useage of a new “beta” version that doesn’t work at all for me, and I’m certain, doesn’t work well for a number of others, either.
